The Sales Athlete’s Daily Playbook: Perform, Recover, Win

I recently spoke with peak performance coach Mark Smith and recovery specialist Sharon about the similarities between sports and enterprise sales. Here’s a structured, time-based routine to keep you performing at your best.

Morning Kickoff: Start Strong (20-30 min)

✅ Hydrate & Fuel Up (5 min) – Drink water and eat a balanced breakfast (protein + healthy fats + complex carbs).

✅ Move Your Body (10-15 min) – Walk, stretch, or do a quick workout to boost energy.

✅ Set Your Mind (5-10 min) – Spend a few minutes visualizing success and setting clear priorities.

Pre-Call Routine: Get in the Zone (2-5 min per call)

✅ Deep Breathing (30 sec) – Reset and stay calm.

✅ Review Your Game Plan (1-2 min) – Refresh key points, objections, and potential next steps.

✅ Power Pose (30 sec – 1 min) – Stand tall, shoulders back—confidence matters.

Post-Call Reset: Learn & Move On (3-5 min per call)

✅ Quick Debrief (1-2 min) – Note what worked and what can improve.

✅ Mental Refresh (1-2 min) – Walk, stretch, or do deep breathing.

✅ Let It Go (30 sec – 1 min) – Good or bad, clear your mind before the next call.Midday

Recalibration: Stay Energized (15-20 min)

✅ Eat Smart (10-15 min) – Choose a light, protein-rich meal to avoid the afternoon slump.

✅ Recharge Break (5 min) – Step away, move, breathe, or reset.

✅ Refocus (30 sec – 1 min) – Adjust priorities based on what’s working.

End-of-Day Wrap-Up: Reflect & Prepare (15-20 min)

✅ Review & Reflect (5-10 min) – Identify wins and key takeaways.

✅ Unplug & Recharge (5-10 min) – Step away from screens, unwind, and do something enjoyable.

✅ Plan for Tomorrow (5 min) – Set priorities so you hit the ground running.
