It reveals their level of sales “fitness” and shows whether they can apply their claimed knowledge in real-world scenarios. Since we are creatures of habit, how they perform during the simulation often reflects how they would sell for your organization.
You can gain valuable insights into their abilities in just 15-30 minutes, making this exercise a worthwhile investment of your time.

Just like the coaches on The Voice listen for vocal range, emotional connection, and storytelling ability, sales leaders can evaluate key competency areas during role plays, including but not limited to: Rapport Building, Gap Analysis, Breadth and Depth of Qualification, Listening Skills, Time Management, Closing, etc.
Role-playing is about understanding a potential candidate’s ability to connect, engage, qualify, and close, key components of successful selling. By incorporating this technique into your interview process, you can better identify salespeople who not only talk the talk but also walk the walk.
